DAVES BLOG

Sun 10th Oct:

Sorry been a while since I uploaded any blog on here but hope to keep up to date a bit more now.

Many things have happened this year and I guess the most important thing is that we have closed the club for poker untill we can get to the bottom of what the legal position is here in Andalucia. There has been a closure of some clubs by the police but we are not really sure what the outcome will be, so we have been trying to work closely with the casino and develop a new way of staying in the poker world legally by creating the Marbella Mob.

Our first tournament with the casino is this weekend coming on the 16th of October so hope to see some old faces back playing with us next week.

Wed 16th Feb:

The hurt continues, cant believe how bad I´m running, playing in our 1-2 game tonight I thought I would tighten right up and wait for the hands to come to me instead of trying to force the action.

I had flat called an early position raiser while I was on the button, only for 7 and was really pleased to see my J 8 hit 2 pair on a J 8 6 rainbow board. The big blind who had also called the pre flop raise checked and the origional raiser led out as I expected for 20, about pot size, but I felt this was weak and he wanted to represent some strenght and take the pot down there, hoping we had missed this flop, now what could he have?

Maybe AK, AQ, AJ even hands like KJ, QJ,Q 10,J9 could all be in his range,  but I felt I was ahead and decided to raise here to 50 to find out what was going on. To my surprise the big blind flat called behind me and the early raiser almost instant mucked. Now what can HE have?

This boy is a solid player and been playing with us for a few weeks, but my read on him was that even when he had a monster he jammed or raised, and paid for draws by flat calling. So if he had a hand as strong as a set, I think he would have raised thinking maybe I had, or the first raiser, had a draw, and if he had a pair pre flop I think he would also have raised pre flop, and with the first raiser still to play, not knowing what he would do, I felt he was drawing and didn´t have a made hand, so we get to the turn. A two hits the turn, perfect, still rainbow and blows all draws out the window I THINK!!!!!!!!

He checks, so what do I do now? I still feel he is on a draw, but maybe a J and an over card, if I bet here even if he has the J he should probably think about folding and put me on 2 pair or a strong J so I bet 100 into the 140 pot, he calls, so must be a straight draw or set for him, the 2 makes no differance.

The river comes a 5, and he bets 25 into the 340 pot, a screaming value bet or a bad bluff, but cant see how the 5 helped, but decide to pay him off and see the set. OMG he shows 4 7 hes hit an inside straight, a gutshot, I feel like I have been right hooked my Mike Tyson.

I want my money back now!!!!!! I reload another 200 and you know what it happens again, 6 times I got the money in tonight, 5 times in front and twice with a set, but beaten by straights every time, and also once from behind with a monster draw of up and down straight and a flush draw combined, COULD I HIT? Well 1200 down and a smacked arse was what I got for my troubles, back to the drawing board, system working well send more funds!!!

Jan 2010

Been a pretty quiet time for me of late, was running so bad i decided to give it a little break, the poker gods were smiling on everyone else but me.

I was constantly getting the money in good and being done by 1, 2 or 3 outers, it was really getting me down, I didn’t have a clue what to do anymore, if i kept the pots small they always hit, if I jammed and got called by 1 or more players I would come out last, but my good friend Paul Zimbler AKA the Marbella Kid, who incidentally just broke the world record for non stop heads up action and raised a load of money for charity, once said form is temporary, class is permanent, so I will be back soon. Buena suerte.

This week’s schedule

Schedule for October 2010

We are currently closed for playing poker while we seek to clarify the legal position with regards to playing live poker here in Andalucia. The Casinos have embraced poker finally after many years of us having small privately owned clubs. Of course they want us all to play at the casino but we feel the need for small feeder clubs to introduce the game to people who feel intimidated by going to a big flash casino, and are a necessary platform to creating new blood for the poker world.

I hope to give you all good news in the near future.

Marbella Mob Poker and Caesars

The Marbella Mob was founded and introduced onto the Costa del Sol by Caesars owners David and Donna. Gary Collins was asked to become a founder member and the Mob was formed. The idea and concept is to provide information regarding the poker scene here in sunny Spain.
